Here are the answers to the frequently asked questions or to the questions you have ask for the introductory class:
DO DONATORS GET A PROOF OF PAYMENT (ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE AN ORGANISATION)?
All donators, being private or professional, get a proof of payment for the amount of their financial support.
MAY DONATORS GET A TAX DEDUCTION FOR THEIR FINANCIAL SUPPORT?
It is possible to get a tax deduction only if the promoter of the campaign is an Association or a Public Benefit Foundation. It is therefore not applicable in our pedagogical project.
WHAT IS THE BUSINESS MODEL OF OSLANTIS? DOES OSLANTIS EARN MONEY THANKS TO OUR WORK?
OSlantis’ fee structure is simple:
- Credit Card Processing Fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
- Crowdfunding Fee: 0%, OSlantis doesn’t take a commission on money pledged. During the payment they suggest a tip that they consider fair to pay for servers, to develop the platform and to pay employees so they can keep supporting more incredible Open Source project (additional information here).
IF THE CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN FAILS, WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE MONEY?
If thr requested amount of money is not reached, all donators are fully refunded. Moreover, if the campaign is a success but if no solution is found through the challenge, the money is also refunded to the supporters of the campaign. If parts of the funds have already been distributed because a given milestone has been reached, shared in Open Source and approved, but the project stops progressing, the remaining funds are proportionally given back to the backers.
